Background

Many eons ago a blazing star shot it's way across the night sky, illuminating the darkened mountains of Nexus with a brilliant glow, the calm before the storm. The star was infact on it's way down, a meteorite of sorts, impacting with the snowy ground with a terrific explosion of force. There it lay dormant for many many years, eventually being found after construction of a monastery had begun in the area, pulled from the ice as a perfectly formed slab of some unknown metal.

The meteorite was brought into the Lotus Order's large monastery, there the monks who had dedicated their lives to the mastery of spiritual balance studied the peculiar object, detecting a life-form imbedded within. Over time they would use their physical, spiritual and arcane abilities to slowly crack it, being sure to not harm the being within. This would eventually yield a result, the metal splintering apart to reveal a young anthropomorphic wolf pup. The being would be suspended in the air infront of the monks for some time, nine long tails flowing behind him, an immense amount of energy pulsing outwards. The monks spent three days and three nights containing this power, preventing the child from destroying itself and likely a large portion of nexus should he overload.

Finally the power would be quelled and contained, eight of the tails vanishing into the child's form, the last shrinking down to better suit his wolf like body, the child would then awaken, being scooped up by one of the Grandmasters arms, the man known as Grandmaster Dhannem Midnos. Opening his large blue eyes the wolfsune baby would yawn before curiously licking at Dhannem's fingers, Dhannem would smile, the surrounding monks of the order joining him to observe the child, taking this as a cosmic sign, they had forged this order to find this child, they would raise him as one of their own. They taught him to walk, to speak, to read and write. Dhannem acting as both the boys teacher and as his father, the grandmaster would give him a name to reflect his nature, the malicious nature of his power cast from the might of his spirit, in him the force of both light and dark, the very strands that connect all life within the universe, he would be named Shadowheart.

As time progressed and this child grew into a boy, and from a boy he grew into a man, the monks of the order around him never physically aging too much, such was the fruit of their training, living much longer lives than the average being. Over these years he was trained to harness his inborn potential, soon becoming capable of incredible feats of strength and magic. He was also instilled with the values that define him. Dhannem making sure that he would know right from wrong, that he would be able to separate pride and duty from one another.

The time would come, after living and training with the order for over two hundred years the Wolf would finally leave home, seeing enough war and bloodshed during his time protecting his home from invaders. Invaders who would seek the orders secrets for their own gain through violent means. This made Shadow want to do more for the world he had come to call home, so he set out, joining an organisation known as the Galactic Hunter Association, something of an elite force of bounty hunters working under an agency to take out some of the galaxies worst. To get there Shadow spent a decade in the Galactic Federation militia, proving his worth as a warrior but also priding himself more on his feats of compassion, having saved many allies and civilians during some of the most bleak situations.

Shadow would come to learn that he could do much more as a Hunter, going after the warmongering monsters to prevent bloodshed down the line, the proud Wolf boasting several major hunts under his name within a few short years. Though he has found a purpose in life a question still lingers in his mind, he had no idea how he came to be, who he really was, if he had parents and just who were they?

Though he takes his role a bit too seriously, believing himself to not be very good company makes him something of an introvert, treating most strangers with disinterest to begin with, however when one actually makes the effort to crack his surface he's a gentle and rather sensitive beast. It’s not uncommon to see him take the time to walk and meditate alone, helping ease his mind and body.

As previously mentioned Shadow is capable of some pretty incredible feats, thanks both to inborn talent and the rigorous training of the monks. His conditioned form allows him to run at high speeds, swim through the harshest storms, endure deadly conditions and even jump entire buildings! As if that weren't enough, his spiritual training has unlocked some more mystical abilities. The power of flight is his to command, allowing him to zip through the air at breakneck pace. He’s even been known to break the sound barrier. With some concentration, he can project his spiritual energy out from his body, manifesting as powerful spiritual blasts in various forms. Finally, time spent in the scholar’s libraries has given him access to a rather extensive repertoire of spells.

However Shadow must keep his emotions in check whilst using his powers, within him still lingers his other side, the Kitsune spirit. This part of Shadow is prone to violent outbursts of dark energy, capable of corrupting the hunter's mind, sending him into a vicious bloodfrenzy, craving death and destruction, a hunger for souls. Shadow can keep this form at bay for some time but during times of great peril sometimes it's better to unleash the beast within!
