Character Name: Solan Asasora
Race: Human (~74%), tint of Atlantean (Ronay, <1%), angel (25%)
Class: Mage
Age: 24
Birthday: December 30
Physical Description: Solan is overall decently attractive. The young human stands at about 5 and a half feet tall, and is fairly slender, though not to the point of having his ribs poking out. His hair is messy and brown, and occasionally gets in his vivid green eyes. He also occasionally wears glasses, although he's perfectly capable of correcting his near-sightedness through magical means; whether or not he does so is a matter of personal style. His facial structure is a bit fairer than most humans, and is kindly; the young man generally has a smile on his face when he's not being stuffed down the maw of a hungry predator. As for clothing, this consists simply of a leather tabard, leggings, and a soft cloak of alpaca wool. He usually eschews footwear, although he will at least put on sandals if the location he is in calls for them. He also has a sandalwood staff with a glowing carven rose quartz set into the tip.
Possessions: Besides his cloak, Solan doesn't have much in the way of worldly possessions. He entered the park with a simple notebook and a pen enchanted to always be attached to the outside of its spine, and of course his magical staff topped with its magically resonant crystal. He also possesses a small crystal sphere that he now wears around his neck. It's proof against digestion, permeable to air but not acid, and the perfect size for a micro to curl up in comfort...
Abilities: Solan is still somewhat of an apprentice mage. He can put up a decent fight in some areas, but there's a reason he ended up lunch for a very strong naga five minutes after entering The Park for the first time. Still, if he can get into a fight, he can prove a bit of a challenge.
His main skills lie in elemental manipulation; by using water, he can heal, fire to attack, earth to repel attacks or armor himself, and wind to speed him away, fly, or deflect certain techniques. He's also fairly skilled in transformation magic, and of course he made absolutely certain to learn a reformation spell. In short, though low-level, Solan is pretty well-rounded and capable of reacting to various situations. In addition, he will generally reform unless the predator has ways of keeping him from doing so. If the predator does have such a way... well, hopefully there will be another way to help him...
Background: Solan is by his nature a scholar and a bookworm; he often has at least one dusty old tome with him. Hearing of a place where creatures that did not exist in the area of his village, and humans with the bizarre power to swallow one another whole, he set out in hopes of researching into The Park's magical secrets and studying the fascinating non-human races there.
Personality: Although bookish, Solan isn't very shy. The young mage is quite friendly, and will approach others without hesitation, especially if they appear upset or in trouble. Of course, this has landed him in more than one gurgling stomach. He is also curious by nature, and absolutely adores cute things.
The below is completely skippable. Only read on if you're interested in the particulars of how Solan's magic works and what he's capable of.
Magic
Source: Solan is an elemental manipulation mage. In short, this means that he is able to manipulate the classical four elements (fire, water, wind, and earth, as per the Greek classification) to produce his spells. To do so, he senses the strands of elemental energy around him, then calls to the element in question by its true name and manipulates it to carry out his will. Mages of this type can also manipulate light and darkness, though Solan does not yet possess this power, and some ancient legends speak of a powerful seventh element that only a very few mages could ever control...
Senses: This ability is the basis of all of Solan's magic. Through years of mental training, Solan has gained the ability to "see" the strands of the elements that weave together to make the world around him. Because everything in the world is made up of the seven elements (classical four plus light, darkness, and the mysterious seventh element), this sense is a powerful tool indeed; even if Solan is blinded, he can still effectively "see" the world around him. Additionally, Solan can sense the use of magic around him, particularly if it draws on the elements, and feel the presence of magical creatures nearby.
Spells: All of Solan's spells are contingent on two things: his senses, which allow him to understand and see the elemental strands around him, and his willpower, which allows him to manipulate these strands. The latter is restricted by Solan's mana, or inherent magical energy. If he runs out, he will not be able to cast spells until he is able to get out of danger and replenish it through meditation.
Earth: An element associated with stability and focus. Solan is able to call on this element to create barriers from the ground itself. Most often, he will pull rocks from the ground and harden them, placing them between himself and the attacker. If the need comes to attack, he can also levitate the rocks via wind, or perhaps alter the ground beneath the attacker to cause them harm. Solan is skilled with earth, but cannot yet do complex manipulations such as creating a quicksand pit.
Air: Earth's opposite, it is associated with happiness and love. Air is Solan's best element, and the one he is closest to. With air, Solan can create gusts of wind and levitate both himself and other objects into the air. Levitating himself comes naturally after his training and costs little mana to do, but levitating other objects is harder, especially at a distance. Other than levitation, Solan has little that can be done with air, but he can also deflect projectiles if they are slow enough with wind gusts.
Fire: Flame is associated with anger and passion. Unlike the other three, the element of fire is in all things, and can literally be drawn from the air itself. Small motes of it are everywhere, producing the heat of the world; in fact, the temperature of an object or area is completely determined by the amount of fire-motes. His training in it is somewhat limited, however; he can only really conjure fireballs by drawing the motes of flame from the air around him into a single coherent mass. A more skilled mage can also alter temperature, but Solan does not have this level of finesse yet. After interaction with Flare, the elemental imparted some of her power to him, and over time his meditations on this may help him to understand the element better.
Water: Water is associated with kindness and sentimentality. This is Solan's weakest element; apart from limited ability to physically manipulate liquid water, he has little power in it. The only actual water-based spell he knows of is his reformation ability, and this is not purely water-based. He has managed to grasp the very basics of healing, thanks in part to Sam's help, but is still poor at it.
Light and Darkness: The fifth and sixth elements, Solan has at yet no power over these. In fact, he generally cannot even sense them, at least in their natural forms; only when someone is drawing on them for a spell or holds a large concentration of it within themselves can he feel it and pinpoint them. For example, he could easily detect Mae_Adeline's internal light element, especially if she was casting a spell.
??? Sages have spoken of a mysterious seventh element outside of the three paired sets (water/fire, earth/air, light/dark). This element's very name is unknown, and very few have been able to even draw on it, let alone master it's power. What mysterious powers could the seventh element hold?
